How to share school handouts with your family

On paper, only the person who read a school handout knows what it says. Sharing handouts with the whole family is the easiest way to stop “nobody told me” and “that was due today?”.
This guide walks through photographing handouts and sharing them with your family in the free Kazoku Board app, with real screenshots.
What you need
- An iPhone or iPad for each family member (iOS / iPadOS 26 or later)
- The Kazoku Board app (free, family sharing included)
Steps
1. Photograph the handout
Open Board and photograph the handout from the + button at the bottom right. Multi-page handouts can be saved together.
Your handouts collect on the Board. Use the search field at the top to find one by what's in it.
2. Check what was read, then add it
Text is read on your device, and dates and things to bring become suggested events and to-dos.
Switch off anything you don't need and tap the add button. You can fix dates and times before adding.
3. Events land on the family calendar
Added events appear in the app’s calendar. Once you invite your family in step 6, they can see the same events. Use the names at the top to show one child at a time.
4. Decide pick-ups and things to bring
Open an event to note who is going or doing the pick-up, and what to bring.
“Who's collecting tomorrow?” and “what do they need to pack?” are answered just by looking at the event.
5. Track forms to hand in under Tasks
Forms to return go into Tasks. The ones due soonest come first, with the days left.
Tasks with a due date also appear on the calendar.
6. Invite your family
Invite family members through iCloud from family sharing in Settings. Everyone you invite can see and edit the same events, tasks and handouts.
If something does not work
A date or packing item was read incorrectly
Compare the suggestions with the original handout before adding them. Correct dates and times, and switch off suggestions you do not need. Treat the scan as a starting point to check, rather than a verified copy.
An invitation link will not open
Both the person inviting and the person joining need to be signed in to iCloud. If the link does not open inside a messaging app, try Safari. You can belong to only one family at a time.
Plans are missing on another family member’s device
Make sure everyone has the latest app, is signed in to iCloud and has an internet connection. Changes can take time to arrive. If content has not synced, contact support before deleting the app or switching families.
See Kazoku Board help and support for more details.
Pricing
Family sharing and adding events and tasks are free and unlimited. The free version shows ads and allows 10 handout imports a month for the whole family.
When the owner buys Pro once, everyone in the family gets no ads and unlimited imports. It's not a subscription.
